Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bellew Burns

Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bellew Burns, age 87 of Dahlonega, GA, died Tuesday July 31, 2012.

Mrs. Burns was born March 15, 1925 in Meriwether County, GA. She had lived in Lumpkin County for many years. She was a homemaker and member of Salem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

"Lizzie" was the daughter of the late Dozier Bellew and Mary Etta Allen Bellew and was also preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Burns; brothers, Jessie Harold Bellew, Alvin Terrell Bellew, Roy Edgar Bellew, Homer Lee Bellew, and William Duncan Bellew; sisters, Doris May Jones and Ruby Laurel Gray.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Lloyd Anderson, Dahlonega, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Vicki Burns, Dahlonega, GA, Ronald and Brenda Burns, Suches, GA; brother, Turner Bellew, Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren, Wayne Burns, Sherry and Tony Sutton, Donny and Theresa Burns, Chad Burns, Jeffery Burns, Nicole Barnes, Sheena and Jason Hester, Parks Anderson and his fiancé , Megan Pentecost; great-grandchildren, Zachery Burns, Cheyenne Burns, Kimber Dudley, Austin Burns, Kaleigh Elizabeth Abernathy, Montana Barnes, Nathan and Mason Hester. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Burns are scheduled for 3 PM Thursday, August 2, 2012, at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell and Rev. Sidney Jones will officiate.

Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 4 PM until 9 PM.
