Everett Douglas Smith

After a short illness Mr. Everett Douglas Smith, age 82 , of Martin, passed away, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born December 3, 1929 in Toccoa, he was a son of the late Travis Douglas and Sallie Mae Herron Smith and widower of the late Geneva Brown Smith.

Mr. Smith was of the Baptist Faith and a former employee of Lyman Matheson Furniture Company where he retired as a supervisor and craftsman. He loved to read his bible, work in his garden, look after his grand children, and take care of his cats.

Family members include, a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Shiela Smith of Martin, GA; daughters and son-in-laws, Cindy and Roger Mattison of Martin, GA, Wanda and John Allison of Bonaire, GA; grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Chris and Brandy Smith, and Rusty Allison of Bonaire, GA; a granddaughter, Emily Allison of Bonaire, GA; and great-granddaughters, Erica Smith and Krista Smith of Bonaire, GA.

He was the last member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.

A memorial service will be held at one o'clock on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Bill Stacey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5 until 8 pm on Monday.
