Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Rhonda B. Chapman, age 96 of Murrayville. Mrs. Chapman passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday July 28, 2012 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Gerrells, Rev. Roger Dunagan, Rev. Les Fuller, and Rev. Phillip Robinson officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Chapman was born August 5, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Fed and Flora West. She was raised in the Shoal Creek community of White County, and she retained a life-long love for the area even after moving to Lumpkin County with her husband. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved cooking for her family and visiting with friends. One of her greatest pleasures was taking frequent rides through White County particularly the Shoal Creek area. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years James Chapman; daughter Patricia Chapman Dunagan, brothers Chester and Lester West, and sisters Willa Nell Gilleland and Hazel Carder.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jimmie Sue and John Gerrells, son-in-law and wife Roger and Judy Dunagan; grandchildren Troy and Sharon Dunagan, Sandi and Eddie Lovell, Stephen and Kristi Gerrells and Nathan Gerrells; great grandchildren Craig and Kyle Lovell; Kalie, Zachary, and Hannah Gerrells;
Clarissa and Maggie Reece Dunagan; sister-in-law Myrtle West; her beloved caregiver Connie Couch as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
