Bernese Reeves

Bernese Reeves, 79, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday July 14, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born December 17, 1932 to the late Luster and Ruby Grant, she was a lifelong resident of Dawsonville. A homemaker at her death, Mrs. Reeves worked in public health for the Health Departments of Dawson, Lumpkin and Forsyth counties and retired after 19 years of service. She possessed a loving nature which made her mother to a host of family and friends. A member of Harmony Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene Reeves; son, Eddie Reeves; and two brothers.

Surviving are her son, Winfred Reeves, and his companion, Kay Burton, Dawsonville; sisters, Nadine Holland, Dawsonville, Madge Whelchel, Dawsonville; brother and sister in law, Wayne and Faye Grant, Dawsonville; sisters in law, Odeleen Talley, Dawsonville, Grace Abernathy, Dawsonville, Martha Reeves, Dawsonville, Jewell Reeves, Dawsonville; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday July 16, 2012 at 3 o'clock at Harmony Baptist Church. Rev. Joey Gilbert and Rev. J. W. Day will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:30 until 9 at the funeral home.
