Obituary Date: Tuesday, July 10, 2012
Michael A. Estrada, age 45, of Cumming, Ga., passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2012 after an extended illness. Michael was born on September 3, 1966 in Savannah, Ga. and grew up in Austin, Texas.
Michael was a 1985 graduate of David Crockett High School, where #76 was well known for his athletic ability on the football field. He attended Texas State until 1987, when he relocated to Northern Virginia. He graduated from National Louis University with a Bachelors of Science degree. Michael followed his father's footsteps with his career at the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. and transferred to Atlanta where he successfully achieved his role as Branch Chief of Business Compliance Support Branch. He garnered immense respect and admiration from his superiors, co-workers and subordinates throughout the region.
He was a successful entrepreneur of his own landscaping company. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who loved sports, both playing and coaching. In addition to playing on Good Shepherd's basketball and softball leagues, he coached his daughters' soccer and basketball teams with Forsyth County Parks and Recreation. He was also the treasurer of the Little Mill Middle School girls' basketball team.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Elizabeth; daughters, Cecelia and Katherine; parents Arthur and Rose Estrada of Buda, TX; sisters, Jo Ann (Wesley) Lowe of Austin, TX, Linda (John) Costales of Jasper, GA; brother Mark (Rachel) Estrada of Austin, TX; parents- in-law, Bob and Celie Urland of Dawsonville, GA; sisters in-law, Katie (Alex) McClain of Cumming, GA, Tashia Urland of Bahrain and Colleen (Sam) Al Mukhtar of Vienna, VA; brother in-law, Robert (Kimberly) Urland of Shreveport, LA.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at The Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Cumming, GA with Rev. Frank Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
