Wiley Sutton Clifton

Mr. Wiley Sutton Clifton, age 94, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home following a long illness.

The son of the late Madison Levin and Harriett Sutton Clifton, he was born January 31, 1917 in Atlanta. Mr. Clifton was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II as a First Sergeant in the118th Field Artillery, 30th Division. He was retired from BellSouth and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cumming and the American Legion, Post 0307, and was a former member of the Forsyth County Lions Club and the Telephone Pioneers. Mr. Clifton is preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Otwell Clifton.


Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Lee Fowler of Huntsville, AL; sons and daughters-in-law, David Wiley and Eileen Clifton of Conyers, Bill and Kathy Clifton of Gainesville; grandchildren, David Scott Fowler, William Mark Fowler, Steven Bradley Fowler, Michelle Lynn Clifton, Brian Matthew Clifton, William Andrew Clifton and Adam Charles Clifton; 8 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14 at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church of Cumming with Dr. Bob Jolly officiating. Mr. Clifton's remains will be placed in state at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
