Oneta Cochran Phillips

Oneta Cochran Phillips, 69, of New Smyrna Beach Florida, formerly of Buford, GA died Sunday, June 10,2012 at home with her family at her side after a long illness with cancer.
She was born in Athens, GA on November 24, 1942 to Dallas Cochran and Retha Andrews Cochran who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Phillips, Sr.; daughter, Holli (Ken) Gorrell of Northfield, NH; Ramona Phillips of Buford, GA; son Russell (Amy) Phillips, Jr. of Gainesville, GA; and granddaughter, Sydney Phillips of Gainesville, GA. She is also survived by brothers, Conrad Cochran of Clarkesville, GA; Dewey Cochran of Maysville, GA; sisters, Lola Childers of Fayetteville, GA; Evelyn Frady of Clarkesville, GA; and Virginia Rider of Douglasville, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Coronado United Methodist Church in New Smyrna Beach, FL where she served 18 years as chairperson of the communion committee. She was very active cooking for her church's ministries of missions and homeless outreach. She was the co-founder of the New Smyrna Beach Community Thanksgiving dinner which has served over 500 people each of the 10 years she participated.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA with Rev. James McNeal officiating.
