Sarah Kathryne (Quirey) Breed

Obituary Date: Sunday, June 10, 2012
Mrs. Sarah Kathryne (Quirey) Breed, age 91, of Gainesville, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord on June 10, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Lakewood Baptist Church. Dr. Tom Smiley, Dr. Jerry Gill and Rev. Don Ormsbee will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, June 11, 2012 at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville.

Sarah was born in Princeton, Kentucky on February 20, 1921, the daughter of the late William O. Quirey and Mabel Claire (Hopewell) Quirey. Married for 65 years, Sarah was the consummate pastor's wife, complimenting her late husband Reverend J. Fred Breed's ministry. Together they planted and grew Southern Baptist Churches in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois and Missouri. Throughout this time Sarah started or was actively involved in leading WMU and GA's. She led Bible study groups and always taught the ladies Sunday School class until the age of 89. In addition to her church work, she volunteered at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for more than a decade.

Sarah K. will be remembered as a beautiful, refined, compassionate, funny, creative woman and a devout child of God. She is preceded in death by her parents; and she now joins her husband, who many say, has been waiting impatiently, wondering what took her so long.

She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Joy Denise Breed of Oakland, CA; sons, Lynn Barry Breed of Rockford, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Clayton Breed and Nancy of Palmyra, VA; and Lawrence Allan Breed of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, friend and loved one, Marie Breed of Gainesville, GA. Most of all she leaves a hole in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her so very much She will be greatly missed, even as we all know that she is now at peace and dwells in the house of her Lord.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Lakewood Baptist Church's Sharing the Vision Building Fund 2235 Thompson Bridge Road Gainesville, Georgia, 30501 or Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center 2150 Limestone Parkway Gainesville, GA 30501.
