Nela Owenby Lang

Nela Owenby Lang, age 86 of Deland, Florida, formerly of Gainesville for a number of years, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Calvin Haney will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 11:00 am till 12:00 noon, prior to the service at the funeral home.


Mrs. Lang was born September 27, 1925 in Blairsville, Georgia to the late Columbus Alexander Owenby and Minnie Rich Owenby. She was retired from working most of her life in various Textile Mills. Nela was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Thomas Barrett, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.


Mrs. Lang is survived by her sons, David Hicks of North Carolina, Jerry Barrett of Tennessee, Bruce Workman of Florida and Bob Workman, Jr. of Arizona, daughter, Diane Workman Rojas of Gainesville, a number of grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
