A celebration of the life of Mrs. Josephine "Jody" Bacon Law will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, June 6th, at First Baptist Church of Gainesville. The family will hold a reception after the memorial celebration at the church. A private graveside service will precede the memorial at Alta Vista Cemetery.
Jody was born on October 28, 1941, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and she graduated from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, before continuing to the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority and made many incredible friendships there that lasted throughout her life.
In 1969, Jody moved to Gainesville and quickly came to love this community. Through diverse businesses, Jody demonstrated a hard work ethic and love for people. She especially enjoyed the friendships that she made during her community involvement in the Gainesville Junior League and Chattahoochee Study Club.
Jody was a bright and shining light and had a contagious zest for life. She was accessible and available to those who knew her and she had an ability to make everyone around her feel valued. Jody loved to laugh, dance, travel and spend time with her family and friends.
She taught us how to live and then, most recently, how to die with grace and peace
