Mattie Jane Martin

Mattie Jane Martin, age 77 of Gainesville, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Bell Minor Home following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 4, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park with Rev. Earl Pirkle, Rev. Boone Strickland and Ben Pethel officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Ms. Martin was born March 21, 1935 in Cornelia, GA to the late Howard H. Martin, Sr. and Inez Maebelle Dalton Martin. She was retired from J&J Foods in the Deli Department and was a member of Central Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her sister Edna Mae Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law Beatrice Martin and Ezra Sims and Sybil Martin and John C. Skelton; her brothers, Edward Lee Martin, Clyde W. Martin, John Wayne Martin and David P. Martin.

Ms. Martin is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Imogene Martin Shope and Dick Shope of Gainesville; sister, Bobbie N. Martin of Gainesville; brother, Howard H. Martin, Jr. of Springfield, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Ray H. and Sue W. Martin of Flowery Branch; devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Ed L. (Frances C.) Martin of Gainesville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mattie was a devoted daughter, loving sister and caregiver. She was loved by everyone and all who knew Mattie loved her.
