Andrew Jonathon Stephens Allen

Obituary Date: Monday, May 28, 2012
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2012, for Andrew Jonathon Stephens Allen, 23, at Old Church, Wesley Street, Oxford, GA on the campus of Oxford College of Emory University. College Chaplain Lyn Pace will officiate.

Born on December 8, 1988, St. Augustine, FL., Andrew was raised in Gainesville and attended Gainesville City Schools. He graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology two weeks prior to his death. Andrew was a talented musician and singer, starring in several productions in both Gainesville and Atlanta and had a long tenure of performance with and support of The Atlanta Boy Choir. Andrew's musical performances earned state and regional titles for Gainesville High School and were most recently supporting recording artists in Atlanta.

Andrew is survived by his father, Terry Allen of Gainesville, GA, mother and step father, Peggy and Philip Egan of Gainesville; sisters, Emily Allen of London, UK and Catherine Allen of Gainesville, maternal grandmother, Arlis A. McCauley of Edina, MN; maternal grandfather, J. Peter Dosland of Edina, MN; paternal grandfather, William H. Allen of Pensacola, FL; paternal grandmother, Joyce E. Allen of Pensacola, FL;.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Andrew's name to The Atlanta Boy Choir. He loved and supported the choir from the age of five and was scheduled to tour Russia with the group this week. Please also support his more recent passion, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Atlanta, where he volunteered as a big brother.
