Doris Velma Helton Thomas

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Doris Velma Helton Thomas, age 84, of Pendergrass, who passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012. Mrs. Thomas was born in Harlan, KY, a daughter to the late Glenn and Lela Peace Helton. Mrs. Thomas was of the Baptist Faith and had worked as a machine operator in a Steel Mill. Her daughter, Mary Magdalene Jeffrey and son, Virgil Leon Jeffrey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Brenda L. Carke, Pendergrass, Emma J. Thomas, Oakwood, Anita J. Brandon, South Bend, IND, sons, Clarence O. Jeffrey Jr., Lancaster, KY, Glenn E. Jeffrey, Gainesville, GA, sisters, Dessie Kannard, Bradford, Ohio, Joie Bullock, Lake City, TN, brother, Poncho Helton, Dawsonville, 13 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchidren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Hoard officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
