Barbara Allen Dyer Faulkner

Mrs. Barbara "Vie" Allen Dyer Faulkner, age 85, of Turnersville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 following a long battle with cancer.

Vie was born on April 25th, 1927 in Towns County Georgia to Napoleon and Ruby Allen. She was a graduate of Towns County High School and Artistic Beauty College in Atlanta. While in Atlanta, she worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell and was a licensed beautician. After raising her children, she worked many years in retail in various shops in Helen, GA. She was a member of Center Baptist Church in Robertstown, Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. 7720, and Habersham and Mt. Yonah Chapter Lodge Order of Eastern Star, receiving her 50 year pin in 2005. She was a passionate Relay for Life supporter. Her lifelong hobbies included refinishing antique furniture, leaf collecting and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband Maj. Jerry Faulkner, parents, twin brother Dale Allen, brother Henry Allen, sisters Loujean Maney and Reide Wilson, daughter Dale Branson, son Allan Dyer, and former husband Cread Dyer. She is survived by her daughters Meryl Bentley (Jerry) and Vivian Rider, both of Gainesville, grandchildren Billy Kimsey of Gainesville, Barton Kimsey (Anne) of Gainesville, Allison Dyer of Gainesville, Matthew Rider (Veronica) of Dahlonega, Christopher Dyer (Juli) of Gainesville, Caroline Nix (Zach) of Gainesville, and Mark Rider of Gainesville, as well as twelve special great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday May 19th, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home in Cleveland, GA.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday May 19th, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland, GA.
