Mrs. Doris Chambers, age 70, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away Sunday May 13, 2012, at her residence.
Doris was born in Hall County, GA Feb. 12, 1942. She had lived in Lumpkin County since 1970 and was of the Baptist faith.
Doris was the daughter of the late Robert Crain and Mattie Bell Woodall Crain and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Samantha Stewart; and a brother, Tommy "T.J." Crain.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Johnny Chambers, Dahlonega, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Kevin Knight, Dahlonega, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Tammy Chambers, Jacksonville, NC, Mitchell and Yong Mi Chambers, Dahlonega, GA, Robert and Tammy Chambers, Dahlonega, GA; brothers, Johnny Crain, Gainesville, GA, David Crain, Gainesville, GA, Jerry Crain. Lula, GA, and Donald Crain, Gillsville, GA; sister, Donna Townsend, Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Eric Chambers, Joshua Sanders, Johnathan Chambers, James Stewart, Cody Chambers, Kyler Stewart, Natasha Chappell, Ashley Chambers, Katelynn Stewart, Brad, Brandy, & Kadie Chambers; great-grandchild, Grayson Chappell. Numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Doris are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.
Rev. Robert Martin, Rev. Dwight Woodall, and Rev. Jimmy Copeland will officiate.
Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Sunday from 7 PM until 9 PM, all day Monday and Tuesday, and again on Wednesday until the time of service.
