Shirley Elizabeth Greene Peters

Mrs. Shirley Elizabeth Greene Peters, age 71, of Commerce, GA died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Peters was born in Walton County, GA to the late, Thomas Alton and Maggie Lee Howard Greene. She was a member of Rogers Baptist Church and a retired school teacher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her brothers, Al and James Greene.


Mrs. Peters is survived by her husband, Carlton Harry Peters of Commerce; son, Luke Peters of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Lee Greene of Winder, Richard Greene of Braselton, and John Greene of Monroe; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 11 at 3 PM at Rogers Baptist Church with Rev. John Webber officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Cemetery, Monroe. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday night from 5 to 8 PM.
