Alfred Virgil "Buster" Lord, age 80, of Hoschton, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 11, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lilburn with Rev. Russell Harbin and Mr. Jack Staples officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilburn First Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Atlanta, Virgil retired from the City of Atlanta Fire Department after 29 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Grant Park Masonic Lodge, the Yaarab Shrine Temple, the Northeast Church of Braselton and the West Jackson Lion's Club. He also volunteered with the Southern Baptist Mission Board Service Corp.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Bobbie Sue Lord of Hoschton; daughters, Susan Lord of Cartersville and Sandra Lord of Acworth; step-son and his wife, Greg and Betty Thompson of Hoschton; granddaughter, Whitney Thompson of Athens; sisters, Virginia Pope of Snellville and Evelyn Carson of Decatur.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel. (770) 564-2726
