Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday May 4, 2012, in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home for Essie Irene Gee Allison, 96, of Oakwood who passed away on May 2, 2012. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Rev. Scott Wilson and Rev. Joel Trigg will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Jackson County on January 2, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Eula Mae Brooks Gee. She was baptized at Mt. Creek Baptist Church in 1927. She attended Pendergrass School and graduated Martin Institute in Jefferson. She joined Zion Hill Baptist Church in 1936, when she married W.N. Allison. They were married 53 years and 8 months. Mr. Allison passed away on March 5, 1990. She had been a Sunday School teacher, W.M.U. Director, G.A. Leader and was church clerk for over 18 years. She was church historian and in 1995 she helped write the 100th year history of the church. She was a member of the Shining Star Sunday School class and still attending church until she fell and broke her hip July 2011.
She was a member of Flowery Branch Homemakers club over 64 years. She enjoyed making jams and jellies, visiting the sick, sending greeting cards also attending family reunions and having yard sales. She loved meeting people and talking to them about coming to Zion Hill Church. She loved God, Church, People and her family.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, W.N. Allison; grandson, Ronald Reed; sisters, Grace Truelove and Ruth White; brother, Nolan Gee; brothers-in-law, Dillard Bryan, Loy Truelove and Quinton White.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert C. Reed III of Baldwin, GA.; granddaughter and husband, Jacqueline and Scott Herr of Corona Del Mar, CA; grandson and wife, Robert and Deborah Reed of Homer, GA; great granddaughters, Robyn Neal of Peoria, AZ; Madeleine Herr, Adrienne Herr both of Corona Del Mar, CA; great grandson, Ryan Reed of Homer, GA.
Also surviving are sister, Bobbie Bryan of Oakwood, GA; brother and sister-in-law H.W. and Marion Gee of Newnan, GA; sisters in law, Lucille Gee of Murrayville, Laura Bates of Doraville, Bessie Allison, Stella Allison, Inez Allison, all of Flowery Branch and several nieces and nephews.
