Maurice A. "Tom" Thomas

Maurice A. "Tom" Thomas, 80, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday May 1, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born June 27, 1931 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Henry and Alva Thomas, he had lived in Lumpkin County since 1994. Mr. Thomas was a driver with Central Truck Lines for 35 years and was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of New Life Church of God.

Surviving are his sister, Ina Jean Dobbs, Jacksonville, FL; brother, Floyd W. Thomas, Gainesville, FL; trusting friends, Charlie Morrison, Dahlonega, Clarence and Joan Huffman, Dahlonega, Dianne Leach, Dahlonega; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 5, 2012 at 2 o'clock at New Life Church of God with the remains placed in state at 1 p.m. Rev. Mike Owens will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
