Mr. E.G. "Tom" Thompson, 79 of Gainesville died Thursday April 26, 2012 at a private nursing home.
Born in Forsyth County, Mr. Thompson had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was retired from General Motors and had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Flowery Branch Masonic Lodge #212 F & AM. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Forsyth County.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law; Becky and Barry Shoemake, Flowery Branch; Gerri and Harry Clark, Flowery Branch; Paula and Mike McDonagh, Marietta; sons and daughters-in-law; Sam Truelove, Gainesville; Buck and Peggy Truelove, Gainesville; grandchildren; Riley and Danielle Shoemake, Ben Clark, Connor Clark, Maggie Dixon, Josh Truelove, Kyle and Amy Truelove, Blake Truelove; great grandchildren; Bradyn Shoemake, Landon Shoemake, Austin Truelove, Tyler Truelove, Hannah Truelove, Ansley Truelove, Dylan Truelove, Kaylie Truelove and Tori Truelove and his loving pet, Luke.
Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Thompson.
The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to the staff of Gold City Nursing Home and the staff of Compassionate Hospice for their loving care of Mr. Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 29, 2012 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Raleigh Parks, Rev. Bill King and Rev. Ken Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in the Wahoo Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites and a White Dove Release to conclude the service. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Saturday April 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
