Mr. Harold Winford Elrod, age 88, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at The Oaks at Limestone.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, April 23, 2012 at New Bridge Baptist Church with interment to follow at New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Milton Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mr. Elrod was born May 21, 1923 in Hall County and he was the son of the late Dennis Elrod and Sally Faye (Abercrombie) Elrod. He was a graduate of Riverbend High School and worked for many years in the dairy business. He was member of New Bridge Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Optimist International. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wynelle (Couch) Elrod; step-mother, Hattie (Allison) Elrod and a sister, Mildred Jones.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Doug Williams, Phyllis and Larry Haynes; son, Phillip Elrod all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jason and Ginger Williams, Ashley and Chris Carrigan; Josh Haynes, Kristin Elrod; great-grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Hayden Williams and Mason Downer; step-brother, Bobby Elrod of Houston, Georgia; brother, Edwin Elrod of Toccoa, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to New Bridge Baptist Church 3120 Cleveland Highway Gainesville, Georgia 30506; or Eagle Ranch 5500 Union Church Road Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
