Ray Maness

Mr. Ray Maness, age, 70, of Dahlonega, GA, died Tuesday April 17, 2012, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Mr. Maness was a Jackson County native who had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 52 years.

He was retired from the Burlington Pinetree Plant in Dahlonega and also owned and operated a video store in Dahlonega for a number of years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Ray was the son of the late William Maness and Louise Crumley Maness and was also preceded in death by brother, Eugene Maness; sisters, Mary Smith and Joyce Mayo.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Maness, Dahlonega, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Elaine and Charles Martin, Gainesville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Elizabeth Maness, Gainesville, GA; sister-in-law, Gail Maness, Elberton, GA. Several other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.

Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Wednesday from 4 PM until 9 PM, all day on Thursday, and again on Friday until the time of service.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
