Reagen Cierra White died April 9, 2012 at her home in Gainesville. She was only 17.
Students at North Hall High School and Gainesville High School, where she had been a student, and her many friends all over Hall County have filled her facebook page with messages of shock and sadness and memories of good times. They called her an angel and quoted encouraging bible verses.
Her bright smile greeted everyone she met, and she had become a confidante and cherished friend to so many. "You are a beautiful lady" and "You brightened many lives, "were common messages.
Born November 20, 1994 Reagen is survived by her grandmother and adoptive mother, Mary Nell White, who has raised her since she was 3 years old. She was welcomed into heaven by the grandfather and adoptive father she adored, Tony White, who helped raise and love her before his death in 2005.
Other immediate family survivors include her sister, Rainey Hoyle, a Banks County High School student; her aunt and uncle, Tonya and Doug Henley, and first cousins, Ben and Ethan Souther, and Jackson Henley.
Reagen claimed many others as her family, and they claimed her as theirs. She had a special relationship with her mentor, Colleen Kelly Waldrip.
Other surviving family members include aunts and uncles, Billy and Genie Whelchel, Ray and Susan Loggins, Idell Fowler, Howell Loggins all of Gainesville, and Arthur and Betty Grizzle of Fairborn, OH. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her list of accomplishments, even at her young age, is long and varied. She was a baton twirler at Gainesville High School and a baton student of Mrs. Betty Rogers since she was 6 years old. She had been assisting Mrs. Rogers teaching baton to young girls whom she loved so much.
She attended Gainesville High School for 2 years before transferring to North Hall High School. She had attended North Hall Middle School where she played basketball, enjoyed chorus and theatre. She was her 5th grade graduation speaker at Riverbend Elementary School, telling the audience, "It's odd I was crying because I didn't want to go to school. Now I'm crying because I don't want to leave awesome friends, amazing teachers and a wonderful school."
Reagen was an outstanding student, taking advanced classes to get a jump on college. She had just received her first S.A.T. score of 1640 and was preparing transcripts for college. She had already visited UGA, Ga. Southern and West GA. College.
She was an excellent speaker and had participated in several school debates. One of her favorite spots on earth was Tybee Island, GA.
