Grace Lenora Gragg Thompson

Grace Lenora Gragg Thompson, 87, of Lakemont, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

She was born in Rabun County, the daughter of James Harley and Omie Free Gragg.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis "Dent" Lee Thompson, a son, James Thompson, and two brothers, John Lewis Gragg and Edmon Gragg.

She is survived by one son, Terry Thompson of Flat Creek; one daughter, Patricia Thompson Addis and her husband, Clifton of Flat Creek; three sisters, Gertrude Lovell and husband, Claude of Clayton, Elizabeth Epperson and husband Max of Canton, GA, Janet Nichols and her husband, Dennis of Walhalla, SC; and two sister-in-laws, Hope Gragg and Dottie Gragg. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jamie Thompson and his wife Kristie, Brian Addis and his wife Donna, Brad Addis and his wife Jennifer; five great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.


Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Thompson was a seamstress for Clayburne Manufacturing. She was a lifetime member of Flat Creek Baptist Church where she helped organize their first Bible School and also was involved in the building of the Flat Creek Community House. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard and attending to her beautiful flowers.

The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Friday, April 6, 2012 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Her body will lie in state at Flat Creek Baptist Church from 1 PM to 2 PM on Saturday, April 7, 2012 and the funeral service will be at 2 PM with Rev. Michael Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
