Fred Baker Simpson, Sr.,

Obituary Date: Thursday, March 29, 2012
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 31, 2012, in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home for Mr. Fred Baker Simpson, Sr., 92, of Gainesville. Rev. Phil Carpenter and Rev. David Matthews will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery.

Born on September 17, 1919, in Westminster, S.C., he was the son of the late Ben T. and Ada Baker Simpson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. He was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing Company where he worked as a machinist Supervisor. Mr. Simpson was a member of Chicopee Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson is preceded in death by his wife, Morine Stringer Simpson; brother, William Benjamin "Ben" Simpson; sisters Faye Fourton and Olivia Simpson.

Mr. Simpson is survived by his son, Jack Stringer Simpson of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Baker Jr. and Lisa Simpson, of Roswell; Dr. Michael Thomas and Elizabeth Simpson of Birmingham, AL; brother, Col. Richard Simpson of Upatoi, GA; grandchildren, Lynn Lees and Husband Kevin, Randy Simpson and wife Latricia, Polly Conger and husband Jamie, Pam Willis and husband Shawn, Elizabeth Simpson-Podojil and husband Mark, Catherine Simpson, Matthew Simpson and wife Megan, Natalie Hagood and husband Heath, Nikki Thomas and husband Burt, Bradley Simpson, and Laura Joy Simpson; great grandchildren, Krista O'Neal Boehm, Savannah Simpson, Hannah and Chase Conger, Joshua, Andrew and Thomas Willis, Faith, Chloe and Sophia Hagood, McCall, Tanner and Christian Thomas, Henry and Tommy Simpson, Chase and Megan Butler and Erica Hooper.

The family is especially appreciative for the love and devotion shown by Candy Brown.

The family would also like to thank the homecare givers and United Hospice for their care and attention.
