Alvin Gerald Gailey

Alvin Gerald Gailey, age 71, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at his residence following a brief illness.

Memorial services are scheduled for 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel. The Reverend Whit Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Gerald was born April 13, 1940 in Jackson County, Georgia and is the son of the late Alvin Augustus Mabel (Chandler) Gailey. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School and Cincinnati College of Embalming where he was a member of Pi Sigma Eta (the professional frat). He retired from Ward's Funeral Home following 20 years of service. He then worked in environmental solutions in the poultry industry with several other support companies.


Gerald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolee (Wells) Gailey of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Bob Book also of Gainesville; mother-in-law, Kathleen Dobbs; step-mother-in-law, Loudean Wells. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; Golf buddies and Georgia Tailgaters where he and Carolee would tailgate at almost every Georgia home game.
