Jeanette Waldon Cook, age 74, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin.
Mrs. Cook was born on November 26, 1937, in Hall County, Georgia; a daughter of the late Rev. Lee Waldon and Clara Vinson Waldon. She was a widow of Donnie Barrett and first married to Edward Cook. Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Waldon and Roy Waldon and her sister, Burndine Elliott. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Cook loved the piano, flowers, and singing.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Martin, Toccoa, GA; son, Doug Cook, Ellettsville, IN; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Stephanie Cook, Enoree, SC; sisters, Halene Waldrip, Gainesville, GA and Willene Tolbert, Highlands, CA; brothers, Bud Waldon, Carl Waldon, and Tony Waldon, all of Alto, GA; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Terry Benfield, Rev. Scott Ledbetter, and Rev. Roger Loggins officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.
