Dr. V.C. Lovell, DVM, age 80, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 22, 2012, following a brief illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 pm Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia. The Reverend John Eldridge will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
Dr. Lovell was born on December 9, 1931, in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Virgil L. Sr. and Lillie Kastner Lovell. He was preceded in death by his son, V.C. Lovell, II and his brothers, Earl Lovell and R.L. Lovell. Dr. Lovell was a graduate of the University of Georgia and went on to earn a doctorate from the UGA School of Veterinary Medicine. He established veterinary clinics in Hall and White Counties and eventually established a successful career in real estate, land development and home construction. He owned and operated Universal Concrete Wall, Inc. in Habersham County. He was an avid gardener and was well known for sharing his produce, especially his tomatoes, throughout Gainesville and Hall County. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all of his family and to the friends who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Jo Ann Lovell, Gainesville, GA; and his children, Charles Lovell (Lynn) of Gainesville, GA; David Lovell (Ruth Ann) of LaFollette, TN; Rusty (Jan) Lovell, Gainesville, GA; Michael Lovell, Gainesville, GA; Deborah Lovell Turansky (Todd) of Augusta, GA; John Lovell (Janna) of Gainesville, GA; Deitra Lovell of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Michael John Lovell (Amy) of Gainesville, GA; Jason Lovell of Buckhead, GA; Shelly Lovell Pound (Jep) of Marietta, GA; Clayton Lovell of Cumming, GA; Spencer Lovell of Gainesville, GA; Luke Lovell of Gainesville, GA; and Hunter Lovell also of Gainevsille, GA; sisters, Lillie Marie Barron, of Habersham County, GA; Irene Blalock of Tiger, GA; and Judy Rea of Clarkesville, GA; brothers, V.L. Lovell (Blondine); W.L. "Dub" Lovell, Carlos Lovell and Fred Lovell (Yvonne), all of Clarkesville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
