John A. Zuck (1919 - 2012)

Mr. John A. Zuck, age 93, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, April 13, 2012 at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie, Georgia.

Born on a farm near Howe, IN, he roamed the lakes, rivers and woods as a youth. Educated at Lima High School and Purdue University, he was appointed as a Flying Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps (1941). He received Flight Training at Cal-Aero Academy and Stockton Army Air Bases, CA, and received his "Wings" and 2nd Lt. commission in January 1942. Flying assignments during WWII were in single and 4-engine aircraft (B-24), which brought him to Spence Field, Moultrie, GA where he met and married Dorothy Dean.

After the war he continued his education in Clinical Laboratory Science at University of Alabama, then worked for 34 years in Vereen Memorial and Colquitt Co Regional hospitals in Moultrie GA His association with the Air Force Reserve was continued until he retired as a Lt. Col. in 1979.

Retiring from the hospital in 1984, he became associated with the Colquitt County Art Center pursuing his hobby of painting and drawing. His love of the out of doors and Mother Nature are seen in most of his works. He says, "I have driven, flown, fished, sailed, canoed, skied, hiked, biked, gardened, become a father, grandfather and a great grandfather and loved every minute of it." he embraced Christianity and was raised in the Episcopal faith.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dean Zuck; two daughters and their husbands; Pat Zuck Durham and Buzz; and Betsy Zuck Wisehart and Steve; 5 grandchildren; Jon Durham; Holly Durham-Guckian and husband Jeff; Anna Lee Wisehart Mutter and husband Andrew; Laura Wisehart Roebuck and husband Jed; and Turner Wisehart; and 6 great grandchildren; Ashlon Durham; Jonah Durham; Seda Durham-Guckian and Aiken Durham-Guckian; Phoebe Mutter; and Oak Roebuck.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Colquitt Co. art Center or the Moultrie Colquitt County Humane Center

Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel Gainesville, GA and Cobb Funeral Chapel Moultrie, GA will be in charge of the arrangements.
