David Dearman Sr.

David Dearman Sr., 60, passed away at his home in Dahlonega, Georgia, Saturday due to complications of cancer. He was comfortable, calm, and surrounded by his loving family. A devoted father and friend to many, David is survived by his sons David Dearman Jr. and Christopher Dearman; sisters Pavon Brown and Karen Craven; brothers Brian Benson and Blane Benson; grandchildren Christopher, Konner, and Kaylee; and Connie Dearman, the love of his life.
David was admired and loved by people all across the United States. He will be remembered by his mischevious smile, his gift of drawing, his love of riding his Harley and his generosity. David devoted most of his life to Law Enforcement in North Georgia and will be deeply missed by his extended family at the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Department.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, David graduated from Johnson High School in 1969. David proudly served in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1975 to 1979. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, David began a 30-year career serving the local citizens for the Hall County Sheriff's Department, the Gainesville Police Department, and the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Department for the last 13 years.
David's work ethic and attention to detail earned him a promotion to Detective, working in the Crime Scene Investigation unit. David earned recognition as Investigator of the Year in 2011, adding to his impressive list of awards.
David will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his quick wit, and his love of his "girls"
