Bessie Hooper Kinsey, age 86 of Gainesville, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, March 4, 2012 after a brief battle with leukemia.
Born to Reverend R. B. Hooper & Docia Gee Hooper on July 9, 1925, she was raised in Jackson County in the Talmo/Pendergrass community and attended school in Jefferson before moving with her family to Chicopee Village in Hall County in the 1940's. She began working at Chicopee Manufacturing Company and retired with 50 years of service. Bessie was married 55 years to John C. Kinsey until his death in 2005. Mrs. Kinsey attended Central Baptist Church and often talked lovingly of her church friends.
Mrs. Kinsey is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Kenneth & Julie Kinsey of Gainesville, sister, Lois Bartsch of Commerce, brother & sister-in-law, Danny & Elizabeth Hooper of Woodstock, sister-in-law, Millie Hooper of Daytona Beach, Florida and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kinsey was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Kinsey and her brother, John Hooper of Daytona Beach, Florida.
Mrs. Kinsey was blessed with a loving, gentle and unselfish nature. As an example, soon after the passing of her husband, as she was dropping off trash at a local compactor site, she rescued an abandoned & malnourished kitten. Fred has been her constant companion for the past 7 years. Mrs. Kinsey had a special gift that allowed her to only see the best in everyone she knew and was always looking for ways to bless others. She had many friends including her best friend, Alene Nix, whom she dearly loved.
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to hospice nurses Mimi & Kristy. We were indeed blessed by their compassion in the care of our loved one in her final hours. We would also like to thank our mother's special neighbors, R. B. Keith who brought mom her newspaper every morning and maintained her yard, also Inger Kelly who brought her mail to her and kept a constant check on her daily.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Earl Pirkle and Reverend Boone Strickland will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 2
