Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Retired Col. John W. McKinney, 83, of Jefferson, Georgia passed away March 1, 2012.
A private service will be held at Woodbine Cemetery, in Jefferson, Ga. Col. McKinney retired from the military after 30 years of service, which included 2 tours in Vietnam and one tour in the Korean War. Col. McKinney was preceded in death by his wife Annie Welborn McKinney
Survivors include son, Steven McKinney of Richmond, Virginia, daughter, Cindy Smigelsky, Oakwood, Georgia brother, Seab McKinney, Texas, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
