Frances O'Neal McElroy

Frances O'Neal McElroy, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Mrs. McElroy was born in Riverdale, Georgia on June 12, 1919, to the late Thomas Winfred and Anna Mae Kilgo O'Neal. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. McElroy, sisters, Jewel Mae Nation, Opal Lee Strickland, Margaret Sapp, brothers, Jesse Denton O'Neal, Thomas Winfred O'Neal and James Harold O'Neal. Mrs. McElroy was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia, the Volunteer-3L Sunday School Class and Helping Hands. Before moving to Cornelia she was a long time member of Sylvan Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was a retired employee of Cluett Peabody Company with 30 years of service. Mrs. McElroy was an arrow 25 year Club and was a former member of the order of Eastern Star.



Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Rudy Curley, Demorest, GA and Jerrie and Bob Beveridge, Austell, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Johni McElroy, Batesville, GA; seven grandchildren and spouses, Dixie and Bob Sands, Scott and Kelli Williams, Stephanie and James Haraway, Nicole Kelly, Beau and Renee Jones, Kira Jones, Terrell Puckett; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; She was the last of her immediate family



Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church, of Cornelia with Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
