Rev. Charles W. Webb

Rev. Charles W. Webb, age 82 of Clarkesville, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at his residence.

Born in Habersham County on May 16, 1929, he was a son of the late Allie and Mae Trotter Webb. Rev. Webb graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology from Tennessee Temple University and was ordained as a Baptist minister at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in 1954. He then served, for the next 58 years, as pastor of numerous churches in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina and evangelized all along the East Coast. He was a current member of Stonepile Baptist Church where he also previously pastored. In his spare time Rev. Webb enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising beagles and bee keeping.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Allie Mae Petty.
Survivors include loving wife, whom he married in 1952, Ruth Locke Webb of Clarkesville; daughters, Kathy Turner of Clarkesville and Amy Webb of Greensboro, NC; brothers, Joseph A. Webb of New Zealand, Carl E. Webb of Clarkesville, and Bobby Webb of Clarkesville; sisters, Louise Bassinger of Clarkesville, Betty Ottman of Clayton, and Kitty Faulkner of Rome; grandchildren, Stefanie Turner Eaton and Michael Eaton of Baldwin, Matthew Turner of Demorest, Autumn H. LaGamba of Greensboro, NC, and Mandi R. LaGamba of Greensboro, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, March 01, 2012, at Stonepile Baptist Church with Rev. Connie Berry and Rev. Donald Grizzle officiating. Rev. Webb will lie in state from 1:30pm until the service hour on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
