Charles "Bear" Mayfield

Charles "Bear" Mayfield, age 65 of Demorest, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012, at Habersham County Medical Center.
Born in Clarkesville, GA on September 23, 1946, he was the son of the late Robert and Blanche Byers Mayfield. A lifelong resident of Habersham County, Mr. Mayfield was a member of Oakey Mountain Baptist Church and was retired from the maintenance department with the City of Demorest. Previously he had worked for many years with Clarkesville Mill.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mayfield was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Stockton.
Survivors include nieces and spouses, Brenda and Trevier Hart and Kimberly and Allen Mull all of Clarkesville; great niece and nephew, Kayla and Christopher Mull both of Clarkesville; brother-in-law, Ed Stockton of Demorest; one uncle, one aunt, several cousins and other extended relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 pm Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Brion K. Williams officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Tuesday.
