Mrs. Helen (Dodie) Dyer, age 79, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Ruell Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, February 28, 2012 and also Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dyer was born January 26, 1933 in Jackson County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Melvin and Onie Bell Peppers. She was a member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dewey, Howard and Gene Peppers; daughter, Lola Smallwood and sons, Marvin and Melvin Dyer.
Mrs. Dyer is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Lawton Dyer of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Laura Dyer; Larry and Veida Dyer, both of Gainesville; son Jeff Dyer of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Loraine and Gene Anglin of Gainesville; daughter, Ann Allison; daughter and son-in-law Wanda and Shane Ward, all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jason Dyer, Wendy Smallwood, Julie Stratton, Corey (Amy) Anglin, Jessica Anglin, Heather (Jason) Holcombe, Haley Simmons, Seth Allison, Brittney Ward and Kristy Ward; great-grandchildren, Logan Gowan, Daesha Stratton, Tyler Stratton, J.J. Anglin, Ansley Anglin, Landon Holcombe and Aubrey Holcombe; brother-in-law, Grover (Alice) Dyer of Springerville, AZ; sisters-in-law, Louise Ray and J.O. Puett, Thelma (John) Hewell; Jodi Hightower, Betty Collins and Jeanette Fields; special friends, Ed and Hazel Teague.
