LaRaine Elrod

Obituary Date: Friday, February 17, 2012
LaRaine Elrod, 67, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Feb. 17, 2012 after a prolonged illness.

She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne, to whom she was married to for 30 years.

She was born on April 12, 1944 in Beattyville, Kentucky to the late Chester Ross and Hazel Lainhart.

Formerly of Panama City, Florida where she worked as a medical assistant for a number of years before relocating to Georgia after marriage. She then worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron until she retired. Before relocating to Dahlonega in 2000, she was very active in her church, Peachtree Corners, a position of service that continued with the move of her membership to the Dawsonville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by brothers Chessie and Chester Ross and sisters Emma Lou and Barbara Ross. She is survived by sisters Julettea Daniels, Judy Childress, Janie Albers, Joyce Jeffers and brother Robert Catron, half-sisters Sadie and Tutie Ross and half-brothers Carl and Stoney Ross. She is also survived by her foster mother Ruby Ross and was preceded in death by her foster father Shorty Ross.

She was the dear aunt to Terrie (Kevin) Glaab, Lisa (Dennis) Rogers, Amy (Billy) Swafford, Brandi Ryan, Mary Ann (Tony) Kestel, Jason Cooper, Scott Cooper, Zachary Albers, Jimmy (Diedrie) Jeffers, Jeanne (Matt) Byrd, Ethan and Hannah Miller of Cumming, beloved "Miss Raine" to Ridge and Cannon Cole of Dahlonega.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronnie Green Heart Center, the American Cancer Society, the Emory Transplant Program, and Compassionate Hospice of North Georgia.

A memorial service will be held at Etowah River Church of Christ in Dawsonville, Georgia on February 25, 2012 at 1 PM. Everyone is invited to attend.

Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away."
