Donald James Claflin

Mr. Donald James Claflin, age 75, of Dahlonega, GA, died Friday, February 17, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Hospital in Gainesville.

Donald was born in Lacona, NY December 5, 1936 and had lived in Central NY, then Florida and finally Dahlonega. He retired as an optician in 2005. He was also a musician and belonged to and performed with various country music and bluegrass bands.

Mr. Claflin was the son of the late Noel Claflin and Jenny Claflin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Leon and Ernest.

He is survived by:
His brother, Malcolm Claflin (wife Catherine) of Fulton, NY;
His daughter, Kathleen MacDonald and her husband Richard MacDonald of Dahlonega, GA;
His four sons,
Scott Claflin, (wife Donna) of Manlius, NY;
Kevin Claflin, (wife Kathy) of Pennellville, NY;
Dennis Claflin of Sandy Creek, NY;
Kenneth Claflin , (wife Virginia) of Douglasville, GA
His grandchildren, Angela Claflin, Andrea Claflin, Andrew MacDonald, Rebecca Claflin, Brandon Claflin, Amanda MacDonald and Nathan Claflin ;
And numerous nieces, nephews and their progeny.

Services for Mr. Claflin are scheduled for 4 PM Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church.
