Barbara Lee Martin, age 78, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012.
Mrs. Martin was born on August 5, 1933, in Habersham County, Georgia; a daughter of the late Calvo and Cleo Burton Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Alan Martin; her sisters, Lucille Lee Moore, Anna Sue Perry, Rene Belcher, and Alice Lee Chun; and her brother, William Calvo Lee. Mrs. Martin attended Wesleyan College and was a member of the Tallulah Falls United Methodist Church. She married and raised her family in California, then returned to Gainesville, Georgia, where she was a teacher at the Lyman Hall School.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Norm Lessard, Sanford, FL; sister, Virginia Deavers, Gainesville, GA; grandson, Drew Lessard; and grandchildren and their spouses, Bob and Hillary Morgan, Anna and Paul Delligatti, Pat and Claire Lessard, Ryan and Nikki Lessard, Brady and Lisa Lessard, Casey and Eileen Lessard, and Norman and Jill Lessard. Barbara, also known as "Grammy B", was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She enjoyed the company of all of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia, with the Rev. James Turpen officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
