Michael S. 'Rodeo' Canup

Memorial services for Michael S. "Rodeo" Canup, age 59, of Lula, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel with full firefighter honors. Jerry Palmer and Billy Joe Jenkins will officiate.

Mr. Canup died February 7, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Clarkesville on September 29, 1952, Mr. Canup was the son of the late Oscar and Ruby Seay Canup. Mr. Canup was retired from a career of service in public safety having worked at Cornelia Fire Department and Baldwin Fire Department. He also spent over ten years in the ring wrestling at the professional level. Mr. Canup was a loving husband and father, grandfather and friend.

Survivors include his wife Catherine Harrison Canup of Lula, sons Chris Canup and wife Ana of Hobe Sound, Florida, Bobbie Canup and Benji Canup of Commerce, step son Kenneth Rogers of Commerce, step daughter Heather Rogers of Lula, sister Helen Canup of Lula, as well as seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Michael Canup Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1136, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
