Cora Freeland

Cora Freeland, age 91, of Dahlonega died Feb. 6 at the Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega.
Mrs. Freeland was born Sept. 8, 1920 in White County. She lived most of her life in Lumpkin County. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Cora was a dietician with the Lumpkin County School System for many years. She taught piano and guitar lessons and was an outstanding seamstress.
Cora was the daughter of the late William Gerrells and Callie Allison Gerrells and was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Freeland; son, Morris Freeland; sisters, Dola Burke and Lola Burke; brothers, Billy, W.S., Henry, Joe, and Hoyt Gerrells.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jarrett and Brenda Freeland, Buford; grandchildren, Tammy Ragland, Buddy Freeland, John Freeland, Danielle Long, Andrea Day, and Kevin Freeland; great-grandchildren, Jarrett Freeland III, Emory Long, Graham Long, Hannah Day, Jacob Day, Victoria Freeland, McKenna Freeland, Charity Cagle, and Sterling White; great-great-grandchild, Camden Cagle; sisters, Lou Ella Hansen, Gainesville; Mary Palmer, Stone Mountain; Onie Belle Miller, Covington, GA, Jane Bailey, Dahlonega; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Freeland, Cumming. A number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Cora are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Siloam Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Mrs. Freeland will lay in state at the church from 1:30-2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rev. J.R. Fields and Rev. Tony Allison will officiate.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.
