Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Carl Asbury Kitchens, age 83
of Cleveland.
Mr. Kitchens passed away Saturday, February 04, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Monday, February 6, 2012 from Mt. Yonah Baptist Church with Dr. John Yarbrough and Rev. Derrick Paul officiating.
Mr. Kitchens was born on June 20, 1928 in Hall County to the late Carl Asbury Kitchens Sr. and Dora Roark Kitchens. He spent his career as a truck driver, driving for Colonial/Big Star Stores for some fifteen years, Kroger Stores for some five years and finally Wil-Fong Seafood where he retired with twenty one service. He had lived in White County since 2000, moving from Decatur.
Mr. Kitchens was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 528 Atlanta Warehousers and Drivers and was a faithful member of Mt. Yonah Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Kitchens as well as his seven brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kitchens, Cleveland; sons and daughters in law, Michael and Carol Kitchens,Winder; Franks and Karen Boykin, Atlanta; John and Karyn Boykin of Lawrenceville; daughters and sons in law, Deborah Kaye and Dwight Geeter, Lexington; Barbara and James Cash, Alto; Susanne and Randall Wimpy of Rockdale Co. and daughter Pamela Looney of Lexington; brother, Dean Kitchens of Ogelthorpe, Co.; sister, Nancy Louise Gossett of Ogelthorpe, Co. and sister in law, Mary Kitchens of Gainesville. Mrs. Kitchens is also survived by his seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1:00pm until the service time.
