Mary Olive Parks

Dr. Mary Olive Parks, age 61, of Gainesville, Ga. died Jan. 25.

Dr. Parks was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed with the Hall County School system for 33 years. She retired as the director of student services. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Dahlonega. Dr. Parks was involved in Girl Scouts, United Way, and lots of other community projects.

She was the daughter of the late Winston Gleave and Olive Wilhem Gleave.

She is survived by her husband, Loy Parks, Gainesville; daughter, Lolita Parks, Gainesville; son, Matthew Loy Parks, Dahlonega; sister and brother in law, Margaret and Stan Bales, Woodridge, Illinois; brothers and sisters in law, James and Charlyne Gleave, San Diego, California, Fred and Gloria Gleave, Evanston, Illinois; granddaughter and husband, Tiffany and Dusty Turpin, Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Brynn and Bryson Turpin and a host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Jan. 29 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Blake McCoy will officiate.

Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega.

The family will receive friends on Jan. 27 from 5-8 p.m. and on Jan. 28 from 3-8 p.m. at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega.
