Victor A. Whitmire

Victor Arnold Whitmire of Gainesville died Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Visitation will be held Thursday January 19 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Friday January 20 in the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Brian Malcom will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Whitmire was born in Forsyth County, Georgia to the late Walter J. and Clara Mae Whitmire. Mr. Whitmire was a lifelong resident of Hall County, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and served in the United States Navy. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Buford Correctional Institute. His Son Gary Arnold Whitmire preceded him in death.

He is survived by his beloved Wife of 53 years Margaret (Margie) Benes Whitmire, daughter Elaine Caldwell (husband Jeff Caldwell) of Hartsford, Alabama, and Joyce Whitmire Lambert (husband Steve Lambert) of Carrollton, GA., Brother Garnett Whitmire and Sister Mickie Roper. He has five Grandchildren, Jessica Maddox, Kristen Cook, Maggie Caldwell, Chancy Lambert, and Chaney Lambert. He also is survived by three great grandchildren and life long best friend Jimmy Tankersly.

The family wishes to thank the Critical Care Unit of N.E. Georgia Medical Center for the care of Mr. Whitmire and for the love, prayers, and kindness shown to his family.
