Richard E. Nix

Richard E. Nix, age 67, of Demorest, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the Habersham Medical Center.

Mr. Nix was born on September 14, 1944, in Hall County, Georgia; a son of the late Homer and Bonnie Mae Truelove Nix. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian Burton, Louise Payne, Roberta Nix, and Carolyn Skelton and his brother, Wayne Nix. Mr. Nix was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Sue Holcomb Nix, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gus Hawkins, Demorest, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Paige Nix, Oakwood, GA; sisters, Virginia Phillips, Clarkesville, GA, Lois Ann Holbrook, Doraville, GA, Catherine Hobson, Cornelia, GA, and Joyce Jones, Turnerville, GA; brothers, Rev. Robert Nix, Lula, GA and Raymond Nix, Demorest, GA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Larry and Wanda Lack, Cornelia, GA.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with Rev. Austin Kelley and Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the funeral home.
