Lois S. Blackmon

Obituary Date: Saturday, January 14, 2012
Lois S. Blackmon, 94, past into the loving arms of Jesus on January 14, 2012. Born in Fitzgerald, GA and formerly of Stone Mountain, GA, her current residence was Cumming, GA. She was a member of Cumming Baptist and formerly of First Baptist Church of Stone Mountain and Kirkwood Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas William (Bill) Blackmon as well as her parents and 2 brothers. She is survived by her daughter Karen Abbott, son-in-law Carl Abbott of Cumming, GA, two grandchildren, Kimberly Abbott Tyree and Russell Abbott, formerly of Cumming, their spouses and 5 great grandchildren. She also has two sisters-in-law, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. She was a precious lady dearly loved by her family and friends.

Lois enjoyed numerous hobbies and always remembered birthdays and special occasions with a card or letter. She retired from R. J. Reid Contracting Company where she worked as office manager for over 30 years. She was active in the Women's Missionary Union and the Baptist Association. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive visitors at Cumming Baptist Church, 115 Church Street, Cumming,GA 30040, at 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 21st with a memorial service to follow at 3:30 pm (same location). Flowers need to be delivered by Saturday morning to McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Dr., Cumming, GA 30040, phone 770-886-9899. In lieu of flowers she would request donations to: Georgia Baptist Children's Home, Children's Medical Center, Dallas, TX.
