Marjorie Lorene Knight Wellborn, 87 of Gainesville, Ga. passed away on Sunday January 15, 2012 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Ms. Wellborn had been in declining health for several years and had been a resident of New Horizons North for the past 3 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 18, 2012 at Free Chapel with Pastor Jentezen Franklin officiating. Interment will be in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Monday January 16,2012 from 6-8 p.m. and again Tuesday January 17, 2012 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
Ms. Wellborn was born on April 20, 1924 in Morgan County, Georgia to the late John and Katie Farmer Knight. She married the Rev. Roy Wellborn in 1944. Rev. Wellborn served as a Pastor in the Congregational Holiness Church for many years. Together they served at the Monroe C.H. Church, the Cleveland C.H. Church and at the Free Chapel Church, til his death in 1989. Ms. Wellborn was a faithful Pastors wife and served her Lord and Saviour in ministry along side her husband. She also worked for the Gainesville City Schools for a number of years before her retirement. She was known for being a good cook and served many meals to families, ministers, and at church functions during her younger days. Ms. Wellborn loved her family dearly, and served the Lord faithfully till the end. What a legacy and heritage she and her husband have left to her family and friends. Nanny, we will miss you.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Duane Pierce, Gainesville, four sons and daughters-in-law, Nathaniel and Betty Wellborn, Cleveland, GA., Grayel and Cindy Wellborn, the Rev. Dwayne and Teresa Wellborn, Dwight and Denise Wellborn, all of Gainesville, GA., Grandchildren, Gwuan Wellborn, Shawn Wellborn, Ishmael Wellborn and wife Chelsea, Chad Wellborn, Cory Wellborn and wife Beth, Marty Pierce, Bethany Pierce Scott and husband Bryan, Lori Pierce Pugh and husband Nicholas, Danielle Wellborn, Dustin Wellborn, Daniel Wellborn, Jenna Wellborn Helmers and husband Brandon, and Mary Katherine Wellborn. Great Grandchildren, Ezra Wellborn and Riley Pugh.
