Lester Wenzel, Jr.

Lester Wenzel, Jr., 79, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday January 15, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born February 19, 1932 in LaSalle, Illinois to the late Lester J. and Josephine Wenzel, he had lived in Dawson County over 15 years having moved from Cumming. Mr. Wenzel was a retired bridge foreman who worked in highway construction for many years. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and was also preceded in death by a sister, Joanna Algabright.

Surviving are his companion, Irene Walker, Dawsonville; children, Dixie McCullough, Illinois, Lester J. Wenzel, III, Illinois, Rhonda Baker, Illinois, Jesse Wenzel, California; sister, Donna Wenzel, Texas; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 18, 2012 at 11 o'clock at Georgia National Cemetery.
