Herbert (Herbie) Cameron Best

Herbert (Herbie) Cameron Best, 72, of Rabun Gap, GA, passed away at Mountain Lakes Medical Center Thursday, January 12, 2012.

He was born in Norristown, PA, and was the son of the late Herbert and Clara Cameron Best.

Herbie is survived by his loving wife, Donna Jean Burnette Best, of the home; one son, Herbie Best and his wife Sherri of Rabun Gap; and two sisters, Vivien Green of Rabun Gap, GA and Eleanor Speacht of Norristown, PA. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Casi Best and Kayleigh Keener.

He was a veteran of the US Army and was self-employed in the salvage business. He loved playing golf, auto racing, billiards and above all else, people. Years ago he had a dirt track race car and he operated a salvage yard and billiard room. Herbie was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Friday, January 13, 2012 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2 PM with Rev. Larry Cannon and Rev. Michael Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
