William L. "Bill" Wilson, 89. of Gainesville, Georgia died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel.
Mr. Wilson was born in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1923 to the late Gawltry Wilson and Bessie (Ziegenhain) Wilson Mr. Wilson served in the United States Army during World War II and received numerous decorations and citations: Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars; Phillippine Liberation: Good Conduct Medal AR 600-68; Purple Heart GO #2; Silver Star Medal GO # 144; Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged December 16, 1945.
After serving in the military, Mr. Wilson worked for approximately 25 years with Burger King Distribution. After retirement, in 1979 he became a Burger King Franchisee.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Michael Styles; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Doc Ellison; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Steve Brogdon; daughter, Kathy Branham; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Betty Wilson.
